The light on D which is usually green when engaged is now blinking after driving a few km. What is the problem?

This sounds like a problem for the dealer - what model Stepwagon is it? RF1/2, RF3/4 ...?

I have no idea what model at the moment, will check it. Meanwhile the mechanic said after examining that he suspected a sensor problem (D3) and awaiting the parts to be imported from Japan. What do you think?

Does seem to be correct diagnosis if it still drives OK. When was your stepwagon registered? - that will tell us what model.
