LPG anyone....?

General technical Q&A for the Honda Stepwagon

LPG anyone....?

Postby bearhands » Wed Feb 24, 2010 3:01 pm

As I continue my slow moving quest to replace my Fiat Doblo with the occasional sleeper on wheels which will be my Stepwagon whenever it appears, I have to consider the difference between 45mpg of diesel against 25ish of petrol. With that thought in mind, has anyone had their van converted to LPG? I know Bongos are converted regularly and just wondered if any Stepwagons had gone through the same process. No doubt the first question any converter will ask is 'how big is the spare wheel well'....

Hi

My spare wheel is a space saving jobbie that hangs underneath in a cradle.

Hi 123Dean - Where did you get the LPG conversion done? And which manufacturer's kit is fitted? Can you let me know what the cost was too? My VW T25 (shhhh - don't tell anyone I have one  ) also has an LPG conversion but our Stepwagon V-TEC engine still just runs on petrol. I have looked at http://www.professautogas.co.uk/contactus.html as their prices are good for conversion.

Cheers

Lewis

Thanks for the information :D - is your engine the V-TEC one .. i.e. 2001 onwards fitted to RF3's or the older 2.0 Honda engine (RF1)?

Just got my new Beemer converted to LPG ... used a company down in Wales (http://www.professautogas.co.uk/) - excellent service and the bloke in charge also told me that the Honda engines convert well. The cost of conversion is very good too - just £845 all in and done in a day!.

They use an AC STAG system from Poland (http://www.ac.com.pl/en/doc/296/our-history). It does seem a good manufacturer and has won awards as well. Apparently loads of people in Poland run LPG vehicles since the cost differential has been very attractive for years - and is here too! :D
