It is a 1997 2ltr stepwagon

Have you tried a Honda dealer and asked about CRV parts - should be very similar for the same engine.

Thanks Lewis, I had a look in halfords and the CRV air filter looked a different shape, I will try a Honda dealer to see if they can help.

I found basic servicing parts relatively easy to come by from a pattern part supplier CAS (Central Auto Supplies), they are a quite a large distributor and their website shows local centers. They are very reasonable price wise too.
