The Honda Stepwagon / Stepwgn Owners Club

We're off to France in a few weeks. I have picked up a universal headlight beam deflector pack from halfords - has anyone fitted these and if so where did you place the "blocker" - did you just follow tha CRV guideline?

Also I want to get a spare bulb pack - again, thought I'd just pop into Halfords, Any ideas on which one to pick up? They do do a universal bulb pack but I'd rather just get a CRV/Accord?civic one if the bulbs were the same.

Finally, I'd quite like to upgrade the bulbs. Has anyone done this and if so which bulbs did you use - I'd like to get a whiter light than the current bulbs give

I used Eurolites beam deflectors on my 2001 RF3 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI. ... OU:GB:1123. The diagram for the CRV was similar to my Stepwgn so I went with that.

I didn't find a ready made spare bulb set that was suitable. Here's a list I made of what's fitted ...
Front Indicators: W21W Amber
Side Lights: W5W
Headlights: H4 60/55w

Rear Indicators: W16W Clear
Break/Side: W21/5W Clear
Reverse: W21W Clear
Fog: W21W Red
Numberplate: W5W

Having swapped my headlights for OSRAM Night Breakers http://www.hids4u.co.uk/osram-night-bre ... bulbs.html and a couple of other bulbs for LEDs, I cobbled together a spare set from the old bulbs and some sets from previous cars.

In theory from 1st July you need to carry a couple of NF approved breathalysers in France http://driving.drive-alive.co.uk/driving-in-france.htm but the law's not being enforced until 1st November http://www.frenchbreathalyzer.com/view_decree.htm. I got mine here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI. ... OU:GB:1123 although I believe Halfords sell them.

Thanks Brian - I can now sort out spare bulbs. The beam deflectors seem reasonably straight forward and I have my breathalisers, reflective jackets, tow rope, triangle etc - just praying for some half decent weather - I'd settle for not raining all the time to be honest

don't you also need a hi-vis vest - good to have one in any case whether required or not!

Correct - you need a Hi-Vis vest for each passenger, kept in the car in such a position that you don't have to get out to put it on!

More recently the French police are now checking for sat-nav systems showing speed cameras - I'm not sure whether camera information from 'loaded' maps are included - it was said at the start of this that they were trying to stop those systems which detected cameras, rather than the mapped ones. I must admit that I have not disabled the camera info in mine. I have found a few 'positives' where the camera had been moved and one or two cameras I have seen with no map indication.

In Germany, some small towns have cameras every 200 - 300 metres, especially in their 30 KPH zones!
