I ended up with LED bulbs as I struggled to find replacement bulbs at local motor factors. I searched on ebay for wedge bulbs and found there were LED replacements. T10 (10mm (roughly) measured across the base of the bulb) is the size for the tail lt and indicator. You can get various colours that you can put in the search. As mine is an RF1 and the rear lenses are clear I got coloured LEDs but you can get white also.
The stop/ tail are T20 or 7443 wedge, they work the same as a filament bulb.
LED bulbs work one way in the bulb holder so if it doesn't work when you first put the bulb in, turn it round and refit. Also the higher SMD means more light emmiting diodes, a more intense bulb. For instance if you searched 'T10 red 25SMD tail' that's a bright red tail lt. A 5SMD would only be any good for interior lighting.
I have found a 120 SMD T10 but only in white. I have wired my fog lt replacing my rh reverse lt (the import co put it on the wrong side) the red led I am using in it scraped through mot as it wasn't really bright enough. If anyone finds a 21w equivelant T10 red LED please let me know.
This isn't a concise breakdown about LED bulbs, just some of what I have found out when replacing blown bulbs, LEDs do look good as the colour is really intense and are long lasting.
Be aware that cars with a CAN system need the corresponding bulbs.
I hope this is of some help to you

Hi Ralph

I used similar to these in my RF3 fog light http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-15-LED-T2 ... 4166c1f92e

Mine were only 9 led so probably not as bright but it's passed 3 mot's since fitting them.

Thanks for illuminating(!) post - I have an RF2 with clear rear clusters, and had a long search to find filament bulbs (see my previous posts).
As I have a moderate stock of those at present it will be some time before I look for the LEDs, but it's nice to know they are out there!

A word of warning: Don't try the amber ones as indicators ~ it totally screws up the flash rate.

I also tried led headlights which worked ok out of the van but not when fitted.

Fortunately the company (based in Newark - isn't that Vantastic territory?) refunded both.

See http://www.m-99.co.uk/Car_Neon_LED_Ligh ... hting.html (Don't know why their website has a poor WOT rating).

Hi Brian, unfortunately these are T20s but the Wattage should be right. I hadn't thought before but I'll try if a T20 will fit in a T10 bulb holder and post back, I have to take one of the light clusters off to find out why one of my recently fitted leds has stopped working. Thanks anyway

'582 7440 12 LED light bulbs stop / tail / Indicator/ rear Fog' would probably be a good substitute for the 21w equivalent T10 red LED.
These I got from "car-mod-shop-ltd" on ebay - £5.99 a pair! I got then for the extra-bright fog lights - they seem ok.
The description is actually wrong - they are equivalent to 21W not 21/5W.
