100V power outlet

100V power outlet

Hi

I was wondering about changing the 100V power outlet to UK voltage one or 12V

Has anyone else done this?
Where is the transformer? Is it behind the outlet in the rear?
If so, how do you get behind the panel?

(this is on a 2002 vehicle ...but any comments for any Stepwagon is useful)

I have now read elsewhere this might be a 100Watt supply .... now confused! :shock:

.... but in Japan the mains is 100V ....so looks like 100V / 100W supply.

confused? :shock: Hope not!

Mine is a 1999 RF2 - no visible 100v outlet - perhaps this model did not have one?
Please enlighten me as to where to look!

The socket should be at the rear on the driver's side - located in or behind the interior panel.

I wonder if the wiring harness has 12v power there already so I could just connect a standard power outlet to power a PC or pump - it would be very useful. There does not seem to be any wiring diagrams for Stepwagons in the UK, :shock:

Where the 100V outlet should be there is a hole!

I will be trying to remove that side panel and if possible fit a 12V outlet (for portable fridge).

Having seen the problem with a brake warning light on the dash, my 1999 RF2 has its SRS light lit - Brown's, who imported it checked all the airbag circuits and associated wiring and tell me that all is functioning properly, and that the light should revert to normal function after 40 switchings-on. I'm nearly there as I don't use the wagon much but I am concerned that it will remain lit.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Having 'lost' my RF2 in which I had fitted a 12V outlet in the rear (see my post on this), I now have a 2002 RF4.
As I use a 'cool-box' in the car on holiday I needed to have a 12V supply in the rear again.
The 100V outlet does not lend itself to changing for a 12V one, but I found on ebay an AC/DC converter - '60W 5A Car Power Converter Adapter 220V/110V to DC 12V' for just over £7, with free postage from China. This works beautifully as the 12V end is a car 12V socket.
If you do buy one of these from Vovotrade, you can contact them via the 'contact seller' function and request an American 2-pin adapter - they will supply FOC. The actual thing they sell has an Australian plug.
I will get a new American 2-pin plug and fit it instead of the Aussie one.
I'm actually doubling up on this, as I might use a second 'cool-box'. I got an American 'one in three out' expander - again on ebay, and all I needed to do was saw off the earth pin!
