Auto gear box question

I test drove an RF1 yesterday and have a quick question about automatics in general. When at a steep uphill junction, I was expecting the gearbox to hold the vehicle completely stationary, however it did gradually creep backwards, is this normal? I did have an old E class mercedes and this did the same but the box on that was in a poor state.
Cheers

That does not sound right - but it might just be the turnover revs are too low. Not a lot of hills around here so can't pop out and check. :D

Cheers Vantastic - it was a worry, but as you say could be the tick over revs being too low.

Hi

My RF3 does creep backwards a bit on steep hills but I've got used to increasing the revs to compensate.

Thanks Brian - have you had any gearbox issues with your vehicle...?
Cheers

My RF2 holds pretty well - needs to very steep not to hold for the length of time necessary to pick up the accelerator on moving off.
Alternatively use the 'foot' parking brake and release it when you feel the transmission 'take up' - I prefer this).
